Jordan’s Principle supports substantive equality for First Nations children when access products, services, and supports such as:
- Education
- Mental health
- Medical Equipment
- Speech Therapy

Service coordinators are available to ensure children have access to the services they need, when they need them.
Families are encouraged to contact the non-member inquiries numbers below if they have questions or new information about any submitted or denied request under Jordan’s Principle since 2007.

Hello, I’m Tylyn Silander! I am the Family Representative Manager for Bingwi Neyaashi Anishinaabek with the Family Wellbeing Team. I also hold the Jordan’s Principle portfolio and the Education portfolio. I grew up in Fort Frances and have lived in Thunder Bay for 6 years. I have extensive knowledge surrounding child welfare and have worked in the child welfare system for a little over 12 years I enjoy advocating for families and ensuring that their needs are met to keep family units together and connected to their communities. I’m an avid reader outside of work, a cat mom, and a (foster) mom. I am currently working on new child welfare protocols and developing our own child welfare laws for the community. Regarding Jordan’s Principle I am working on group applications for the community as well as individual applications. When it comes to education, I have applied for start-up funding for adult education and funding for a language revitalization program as well as working on education service agreements. I look forward to working with the community and accomplishing many program goals!
